Hi All, I’m in the middle of chemo at the moment. I was diagnosed with appendix cancer in June this year. It has spread to my ovaries, peritoneum and bowel. I’m doing relatively ok but I look forward to my operation, hopefully early next year. I’m looking forward to talking to others going through this journey, it’s a lonely road. Hi I am getting a prostate biopsy result next Thursday. I only met my Uroligst once before MRI and was suprised I got a call for biopsy without any fedback on MRI . Radiologist was very nice etc but was very evacive when I asked about MRI score. It was explained to me that I would only get a biopsy if MRI was 4/5. While I think I can accept what ever the outcome is, I am the type of person who likes lots of information. Is there a list of questions I should bring to appointment. In the letter I was advised to bring somebody with me to the appointment. The letter was standard, so may have no relevance. My preference is to go on my own. My wife who would be very good at the meeting would like to attend but will respect my choice. Any advice. PS I am 61 and this is my first time being a patient. Thanks John

Hi all. My 75 year old Dad finished his last chemo session 2 weeks ago and has been completely wiped out by it. It’s been a rough few months for him, each session seemed a bit worse but this last one has left him extremely weak, barely able to walk, needing constant care and help with the basics. Is this normal? I’ve tried to research effects but can’t find anything that would be as bad as he is now. We have spoken to medical staff and they say to rest. Has anyone else had a similar situation and how long did it take to get back to some sort of independence??

Hi, My consultant advised me for prostectomy since my gleeson score is 7. My psa level is 4.8. He mentioned that it might be localised mostly. Is there any alternative treatment like Nanoknife (Irreversible Electroporation) in Dublin ? I have been UK london university hospital offered this? Any advise?

Hi, I have had a swollen lymph node for a year or so it hasn't gotten bigger and it is rubbery to move. I am scared to go to gp. Recently had blood work done and all was fine. Can you have swollen lymph nodes that are not cancer. Thank you

Hi All I am just wondering i have been having tummy pain since July. I have had 3 ultrasounds , mri and ct scan. So far they have found a 6cm fibroid and some cysts on my left kidney. But they don't think that's causing the pain. The gastronologist wants me to have a endoscopy and colonscopy and I am really scared it's something serious. My bloods are all ok they even checked the tumor markers. Anyone with some advice or that has been through something like this please let me know. Thank you

I’m due to start my first chemotherapy on Friday 18th. I have a cold the last few days (today is Wednesday), no temperature just sniffles and a mild cough. Should I notify the hospital? Will I still be able to get chemo on Friday?

Hi, My mother was diagnosed with Metastatic breast cancer which has spread to her bones in her Spine. She is currently an in patient in Tallaght hospital due to illness & complications from her cancer. She has been waiting, for the last 4 weeks to go to the breast cancer centre in James for treatment but she is only being triaged at this stage. All scans, tests & histology was done in Tallaght but her cancer on her Spine is so extensive now I'm worried it will be too late for her to get proper treatment by the time they start. She has started on drugs that block estrogen and has been on those for a week. Her doctor told me yesterday that she can only get contact with the team in James via email, she can't get them on the phone which is unbelievable since she is a doctor! Just anxious for my Mam to start her treatment & wondering what can be done while all this time goes by. I feel a bit helpless as I thought anything to do with cancer would be treated as priority. My mother is 74 so maybe they prioritise younger women. I really don't know at this stage. Any help, Guidance or advice would be appreciated.

I’ve read conflicting information and my nurse said to eat as you normally would if you can. But can you eat things like sushi, raw fish, seafood etc while on chemotherapy? Thanks!

I found a lump in my breast 8 days ago. I was referred to my local breast clinic. I was told if they think it's urgent I will be seen in 6weeks. If they decide its not urgent I will have to wait up to 12 weeks. I cannot sleep with the worry. I am a Mum with young children. My arm on the same side as the lump is very weak and heavy. Is this something I should be worried about in relation to the lump? Thank you
