Hi, I have tinnitus for the last 6 months and I was told by a person who had tinnitus that zinc cleared hers. But I have heard since that it is not safe to take zinc with tamoxifen, that it affects the benefit of tamoxifen and that breast cancer patients should not take it. Anyone know if this is true

Hello to all the beautiful courageous women that end up coming here looking for answers, support or reassurance, as I did too a few days ago. Like some or most of you I also found changes in my breast and went to my GP to ask for a mammogram as I'm 48 and not covered by the national screening program yet. What followed were 3 weeks of uncertainty and disbelief. After the mammogram I was sent for an ultrasound. After the ultrasound I had a biopsy of 4 samples and 4 titanium tiny pins inserted into my breast to highlight the precise location from my samples. And then was sent home to wait for 2 weeks. On the first week I got very busy at work and tried to stay positive thinking breastcancer was not a death sentence anymore and that although a terrifying experience, I was sure to have caught it early...but on the second week I found by pure chance a hard small lump over my left collarbone that drained all the blood from my face and changed my mood, energy and positivity, wondering if the cancer could have spread and could it actually be terminal...That became the most stressful week of my life just waiting for the results.... And the results came back negative, I did not have breast cancer, but I broke down at the clinic sobbing uncontrollably for 5 minutes. When I finally managed to compose myself I told the doctor waiting for 2 weeks to know whether you have breast cancer is inhumane and unbereable, and another unnecessary suffering inflicted on women in this island. And that's when he told me what I wish I had known before embarking on this journey! Speaking of the Breast clinic I attended in Dublin he said when they highly suspect breast cancer in a woman the team talks to the woman on the same day of the biopsy to prepare her for bad news, and they prioritise her biopsy results to avoid her a long waiting time. He said at no point the medical team reviewing my case suspected I had cancer, and he did apologise if anyone in the clinic made me think so, which I did feel it was the case with every single nurse wishing me good luck, and my radiologist really very worried over my mass of extended scar tissue without having suffered any injury or trauma in the area... So I wanted to share this piece of information with you just in case someone else is in a similar situation...Luckily for me I don't know how fast they would have acted had I got breast cancer, but I do want to believe him and trust that when something is wrong with any of us, our health system kicks into action ASAP without punitive delays that only add to the stress and anxiety of the millions of people facing this disease.

Can anyone tell me if they test ur tumor for leas before begining treatment??? I'm due, to start chemo radiation after x mas I'm female 47 single parent of 3 boys 6/8/12 in cork,,,, low tumor, 2.5/3 cm T3 N2 M0 inside the anal verge so as u can imagine I'm anxious that this treatment works, so I can b reconnected afterwards

Hello, I wanted to know what are the waiting times for chemo, my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, stage 3, Oct 31st he hasn't received any chemo , today Dec 21st he had his first information session and it looks like he won't receive chemo until mid January so was wondering if this is normal? My husband has recently been diagnosed with an in operable and incurable glioblastoma brain tumor. Since his diagnosis his depression has gotten worse, I am caring for him on my own. We have no family in Ireland they are all back in the UK. I'm struggling to get the support I need my own health as decided to fail me with tonsillitis and laryngitis. He doesn't see me as some one looking out for his best interests he's had a number of incontinence issues of the last few days and gets very aggressive when i try to clean him i have no home help or carers sorted at this point they told me that they have people on there books who have been waiting since November. when I broke down and asked what am I supposed to do, there reply was 'i don't know'. I desperately need help I feel like I'm sinking. I just need someone to talk to. My husband was diagnosed on the 21st of December. But since the summer he's been segregating us from our friends. I have no one to turn to and no one to talk to. I know this may seem selfish of me thinking of my own needs and wants but I'm still only human and I do everything I can for him. Why can't I get the help I need for me. Please be honest and tell me if I'm being selfish. I understand this is hard for him I really do. I watch my caring, kind loving husband disappear and a man I don't know take his place. I know it's hard for him to come to terms with this as well. I'm only 27 and the last year has gone from great to out right cruel. I'm not sure how to handle this. I feel like I'm losing my own identity. Sarah.

Hi ladies still can't believe I'm here I'm 36 had lumpectomy last week all results came back clear nodes and surround don't know if that's the right word but ye know what I mean. Am now waiting on results of a test to see if i need chemo it has been sent to America any one had this done really scared at the thought of chemo knew i would have the radiotherphy but the thought of chemo really scares me. Would love any feedback x

Hi there, I am 42, no kids and have recently been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Cancer - oestrogen negative, Stage 1. My op is next week, followed by 4 months chemo and radiotherapy after. I asked my consultant if there were any changes I needed to make to my diet and he said No. However I have read many articles on the link between Dairy and Breast Cancer. They all seem to refer to when Oestrogen is positive, ie hormone related Breast cancer. Does anybody know if giving up dairy would be beneficial for my type of cancer? I do consider my Diet to be very balanced, I exercise about 4 times a week, never eat processed food, but I do currently eat meat, dairy, everything really. Also, I got engaged 2 weeks before finding the lump. I went wig shopping today and was strongly advised towards a Real wig. However many of the threads here advise against. Her point was that I would be able to style it for my wedding. I would love to get married a year after last Treatment, and know my hair won't be back long again. Any advice? Hi, Im just recovering from my final round of chemo having had two lumpectpmys prior to that that did not successfully clear the margins . Im due to have a mastectomy and reconstruction in three weeks time and would really like to talk to someone who has gone through a similar route. (BTW I am in my mid 50,s )I,m not sure I should put my phone number up on here so will wait to hear back .Thanks

I found a lump on my right breast and went to my GP, she then found one on the left breast and referred me to the Mater breast clinic this was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard from them about an appointment. How long should I be waiting to hear? Going out of my mind

My name is Graeme and I’m 22 living in cork. I’ve recently been diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma on the 4th of January. I’m on my 3rd cycle of chemotherapy alternating between VDC and IE. I’m going for a full body MRI scan before the week is out. Really just writing this to see if there are any people out there with the same thing I have and how they’re getting on. I’ve also created a Facebook page called “Cancer From My Perspective” as I want to give more awareness to Ewing Sarcoma as not many people know about it (including myself when I first found out I was diagnosed). It would be greatly appreciated if ye could like and share it please and thank you.
